Planning your visit

The falls and gorge are not identical seasonal experiences. Check flow and visitor access before travelling specifically for the waterfall. Gorge paths, lookouts and the long stair descent offer different levels of effort; choose according to current opening and your ability to climb back up.

Our take

A useful town-based waterfall destination, especially when the river is running strongly. Even when the falls are less dramatic, the gorge remains the defining landscape.
